Breaking The Mould – The Polymer and Metal Clay Project

For almost two years now, Healing Arts Unlimited Artistic Director Linda Chappell has been training in, and working with polymer and metal clays, some of this at Touchmark Studios in Chew Magna, with its director Chris Pate.

This Arts Council funded project enabled Healing Arts Unlimited to offer our members the amazing opportunity to also work with these magical materials. Training in the necessary skills and the materials required for this work can both be prohibitively expensive. However, thanks to the Arts Council, we were able to roll out working with these materials and jewellery to our client bases in and around Milverton and in Bristol.

Working with polymer and metal clays is an exciting, magical, alchemical process that enables the creation of exquisite objects including jewellery. Those who engaged with our project went on a magical journey of discovery working with polymer and metal clays, natural plant materials, resins and a variety of other materials.

With fire and craft, unprepossessing clays were transmuted into shiny beautiful metals and jewellery. Below are just a few examples of some of their work.
